Fishing in Scotland
Fishing in Scotland is extremely popular and unlike in England, you do not need to purchase a rod licence, but you will normally have to pay the fishery owner a fee.
These days I fish a lot less than I used too, but I still manage a few outings every year, including a couple of annual trips to fish for sea trout and salmon.
Previously this was always to South Uist in the Outer Hebrides, but for the past few years we have fished Loch Hope, staying at the Alnaharra Hotel.
Loch Ederline
Loch Ederline is a serene freshwater loch in Argyll, Scotland, nestled within the rolling hills and picturesque countryside near the village of Ford. Surrounded by lush woodlands and open moorland, the loch is part of the historic Ederline Estate, known for its rich wildlife, including red deer, otters, and a variety of bird species. Its tranquil waters make it a popular spot for fishing and kayaking, while nearby ancient ruins and standing stones hint at the area’s deep historical significance
For many years we had an annual end of season pike fishing trip to Loch Ederline in Argyll.
It was before my fishing partner and I really got into photography, so many of the pictures are “snapshot” quality – but the scenery is always fantastic!
The fishing eventually seemed to decline, and our aging bones are no longer up to sitting in a damp bivvy for the weekend but it was good fun while it lasted.
