Swanston Village
Swanston Village on the outskirts of Edinburgh
Anybody following the route for the Allermuir walk, will pass through Swanston village on the final part of the walk.
It is quite unusual in Scotland to come across quaint thatched cottages like this, and it feels like you have stepped back in time.
At one point, Robert Louis Stevenson lived in the village, and is said to have written some of his books here.
As I come down off the hill and pass through Swanston, I always feel like I am intruding on the peace and tranquility of this picturesque little hamlet, nestled on the outskirts of Edinburgh at the foot of the Pentlands.
A lovely little spot!
