John O’Groats
John O'Groats - the most northerly village on the Scottish mainland.
Everyone knows the name due to the endless charity rides, walks etc from John O'Groats to Lands End.
The name actually comes from a Dutchman called Jan De Groot who operated a ferry to Orkney from the mainland.
There isn't much to do in John O'Groats other than get your photograph taken with the famous signpost.
