Around Edinburgh – Cramond
Cramond lies on the shores of the River Forth at the western extremes of Edinburgh.
It is a popular area for walking, with a beach, walks alongside the River Almond, and if the tide is right, you can cross over the causeway to Cramond island.
Always take note of the tide times though as many people have to be rescued from the island every year when they find themselves cut off by the tides.
It also lies on the main approach to Edinburgh airport, so there is a steady stream of low flying planes on the final approach.

Dog and Swan
This dog was only interested in eating seaweed. The swan was hissing at it, but the dog ignored it – the swan eventually gave up and swam off.

Whale Carved From a Fallen tree
One day I was walking along the River Almond at Cramond and there was a guy hacking away at a fallen tree. I went back a few days later and this was the result.

The Cramond Fish
The Cramond Fish is a statue by renowned sculptor Ronald Rae. It sits on the foreshore near the causeway to Cramond Island. The Fish is located a short walk in the Edinburgh direction from the start of the causeway. The Fish measures an Impressive seven feet high, by ten feet wide. It is carved from granite and weighs in at eight tonnes.Previously it was located near the Scottish Parliament in Holyrood park.It also enjoyed a stay at the Falkirk Wheel before funds were raised to bring it to its (hopefully) final and most fitting resting place.
