The Hermitage, Dunkeld

Black Linn Falls

The Hermitage, Dunkeld, is a wonderful woodland walk alongside the River Braan.  There are various paths and trails, and you can get a spectacular view of the Black Linn falls from a small folly known as Ossian's Hall.

How to get there.

The Hermitage is well signposted from the A9 at Dunkeld, and there is a large car park there.  (small charge)

Alternatively, you can park in the small car park just off the A822 at Rumbling bridge.  This is a little bit further to walk, but is my preferred option as it is such a pleasant walk.

There are also other signposted walks starting from this car park.

Best time of the year for me is the autumn as the colours are spectacular.

Below are a few pictures from The Hermitage.

Any tree which falls down, or is cut down, is soon peppered with coins from tourists hammered into the wood - I have no idea why!
